"The Asi Way 52 Week Program" has been used successfully for the past several years in First Nation communities in Alberta, Manitoba and Saskatchewan. It has been used to address mental health, addictions, suicidal clients, divorce, parenting, family violence.
The Training of Facilitators encompasses several models, theories, practical skill development using the The Asi Way Domestic Violence curriculum. Participants are required to complete 160 hours to adequately deliver the program in their agencies and confidently train others.
Option #1 is a one week training in which the basic core of "The Asi Way Framwork" is learned. This training provides the theory and process of "The Asi Way DVI Model". The process of using the Facilitator Manual and the Participant Guide is learned by trainees to incorporate into their current programs.
Option #2 is to provide a two week intensive training. This training option will allow each participant to learn the framework and the models that are used in "The Asi Way” approach. This training teaches a basic application of group and individual education and treatment whereby the trainee can implement new start-up classes in Domestic Violence, Anger Management, Parenting, Substance Abuse classes in their agency or community.
Option #3 is ideal for best practice and to achieve effective long term positive community change with a 20 day training series delivered over several weeks. This approach is based on the principal of “heal the healer”. It is focused on the potential counselors’ need to clear issues that hold them back in pursuing their lives in a healthful way and to be able to help others do the same. In this way, facilitators are able to learn, work thorough their own issues, and practice each of the sessions in "The Asi Way 52 Week Program" prior to taking clients through a group process. It has been effective in teaching the “way” to an individual’s life and to make helpful and heal-full changes in ones future choices.
