Rogelio Sanchez, MSW

Rogelio was born in Bakersfield, California. His heritage os of Mexican and Huasteca Aztec background. He earned his Master of Social Work in 1979 at Fresno State, California. His background includes populations of people who were violent and abusive, poor self control, low self-esteem, addictions and other anomolies of life. His work over the years with abused children, youth in detention and foster care, as well as the elderly in care homes and rehabilitation centres gave him a keen insight into the conditions and needs of the neglected. Rogelio's work in medical and mental institutions also provided a base of knowledge for the physical and the emotional illnesses that plague the sick and dying.

In the case of domestic and family violence situations, watching how clients could fall through the cracks of the system, and often did, Rogelio developed a highly effective approach to simplify working with people. A method he called, "The Asi Way - Four Elements to Change". He developed two innovative parts, which became books. The first part is a framework that teaches facilitators how to teach. Several models and theories encompass the framework showing how to reach and engage the client. The second part is a 52 Domestic Violence Intervention Topic Curriculum, designed to be delivered over per week over the span of a year. The curriculum provides an intensive examination of all the associated contributors to domestic violence, for example, power and control, finances, communications, etc. Rogelio has been teaching classes through California as well as teaching and training facilitators in using the Asi Way Approach for the past two decades.
